LEARNING FROM THE PAST, LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
ENGINEERING AND
ARCHITECTURE FACULTY
THE HEAD OF THE FACULTY SPEAKS
“A carefully designed plan for the engineers of tomorrow, covering the most demanded skills by the industry and society”
WHAT TO EXPECT
Theory, practice and real world projects are our cornerstones.
Learn by doing, with a strong theoretical background. We believe that preparing our students with real life projects in real life companies its the only way for our students to become better professionals.
CHECK OUT SOME PROJECTS
Project IKARUS
A company developed by an Industrial Engineering degree student team dedicated to the production, distribution and sale of carbonated beverages.
Project KOI
Serving tray design for a catering system that maintains both hot and cold temperatures. The trays have a hexagonal shape that facilitate a modular arrangement.
Project PEQLL
Smart Condo project. Through photovoltaic modules the project seeks to reduce electricity costs, regulating the lighting of the condo when needed.
LIVE THE EXPERIENCE
Visits to leading companies
Visiting the region's leading companies and events are key for our students to have a better perception of the labor market and the possible opportunities in it.
LIVE THE EXPERIENCE
Facilities
We are constantly renewing our equipment and facilities in Engineering to improve the education of our students.

THE EDUCATIONAL PATH IN UMX
The vision for the Engineering Faculty
-
1st to 7th semester
Real Projects from day 1
From the first semester our students will be carrying out academic projects to offer real solutions associated to real processes and real companies in the area. -
3rd to 5th Semester
Teams
Our engineering students may participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop systemic engineering solutions involving applied physics, energy management and efficiency, consumer focused design, automation, electronics, logistics, or embedded systems among others. -
5th Semester
Work Experience
In 5th semester, our students make one of the most important decisions at UMx: They must choose between entrepreneurship and Work&Study. If they decide to work&study, they will work while studying, gaining two years of experience within a company. If their choice is to create a company they will get two years of experience as entrepreneurs developing their own company. -
6th Semester
Proposals Development
Students focus on the development of proposals for specific solutions from the perspective of the discipline to which they belong. -
7th Semester
Innovation
Our students focus on developing innovative engineering and architectural solutions offered as products and services based on current needs of the market. -
8th Semester
Final Project
Our students develop their Final Degree Project.
